At 10:34pm on the 21st June, Christchurch and surrounds were rocked by a powerful 5.3 aftershock. Many residents reported that it felt a lot stronger than a 5.3 magnitude quake and caused things to fall and break. It was described as a hard shaking that lasted for quite a while.
