Helipro in Christchurch is offering people a chance to view the earthquake-ravaged CBD from the air - and also to help raise funds for the Kate Barron Trust. Kate was trapped in the PGC building after the 22nd February earthquake and subsequently lost both her legs. The flights last 15 minutes and cost $145. $25 of this will go to the Trust. Hope for Christchurch
Christchurch will be Rebuilt
Christchurch suffered a devastating 6.3 earthquake on the 22nd February 2011. This followed a 7.1 earthquake on the 4th September 2010. The latest quake caused immense damage with hundreds of buildings sustaining irreparable damage, homes splitting in two and collapsing, extensive liquefaction and severe damage to the city's sewer system. Mayor Bob Parker stated this week that all the rebuilding that had been taken place in the last six months has been undone. Nevertheless, he is positive about the future and has encouraged Christchurch residents to take heart. His message is that Christchurch will be rebuilt.
