Magnitude 7.1 & 6.3 - Earthquake Book Available on Kindle

Magnitude 7.1 & 6.3 is now available in Kindle format for only $4.99. The book is a compilation of people's experiences of the ongoing earthquakes and aftershocks in Christchurch and Canterbury. The stories reveal the level of trauma and fear that children and adults felt - but also reflect hope and resilience. There are even a couple of humorous stories such as the one where a lady was having her hair coloured in a salon when the February 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck. She reported that the water was cut off by the shake and by the time she reached home, her hair had turned the colour of Bob Parker's famous jacket!

Click here to order a Kindle version or email debbieroome@gmail.com to buy a print version for NZ$20.

More information on the book can be found here.

Christchurch Earthquake Stories Wanted

I am looking for stories about the Christchurch earthquake for a book I’m putting together. These can be from people who lived through the quake or those from out of town who have family and friends in Christchurch. The stories don’t have to be dramatic – just heartfelt and real. If you experienced emotional trauma, damage to property, helped out at the welfare centres, were involved in clean up, worked in a place that has been demolished etc, I’d love to hear from you. Email me and I’ll be in touch.

Earthquake Book for Sale

All profits from this book will be given to the Red Cross Earthquake Fund. It has a soft cover, measures 19cm X 21cm and contains 32 glossy pages of photos of earthquake damage in Christchurch. Many of the pictures were taken in Christchurch central, shortly after the earthquake and before the CBD was cordoned off. This is a quality coffee-table book and a lasting memory of the destruction caused by the earthquake.

Feedback from a Trade Me customer - Very moving pictorial account of the earthquake. Recommended.
