Nearly two years after the devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck Christchurch in February 2011, demolition is still underway in the CBD. A stroll down Gloucester St on Sunday 11th November 2012 resulted in the following images:

Media Red Zone Tour

On Wednesday 15th February 2012, the media were invited on a red zone tour of the devastated CBD of Christchurch. This was in preparation for the first anniversary of the 6.3 22nd February earthquake that claimed 185 lives. Journalists were taken into the city by bus which stopped at four points to allow them to capture footage and take photos. Click here for more news on the red zone tour.

Strong Aftershocks In Christchurch Area

At 4:42pm on the 13th October, Christchurch was shaken by a 5.0 magnitude aftershock. This was enough to give the city a good jolt followed by a few seconds of shakes. After a few quiet days, Christchurch has suffered 4 aftershocks in the space of 8 hours. According to Geonet, these were 3.2, 3.6, 4.1 and 5.0.
