At 5pm on Sunday 31st May, the earthquake-damaged police station in Christchurch central was brought down by a controlled implosion. When the dust settled, it became apparent that further demolition work would be needed as the lower floors were still standing - albeit in a lopsided manner. However, it was reported that the demolition had gone according to plan. A video of the implosion can be watched here, and photos taken the day after the demolition are below.
